This course will study the artistic and architectural developments, as well as the scientific, philosophical, and literary innovations that emerged during the Renaissance. It will explore changes in political perspective, such as the rise of patronage and the Italian state scene, and how these influenced the social and economic structure of the period.
Starting from its political foundations to its linguistic and literary foundations, this course will delve into this exciting period, showing the main characteristics of the Italian Renaissance of the 15th and 16th centuries. To this end, emphasis will be placed on Renaissance humanism, an intellectual movement that promoted the revaluation of the individual and the study of classical cultures, and how this thought permeated all aspects of Renaissance life, from education to politics.
